2-AEP Magnesium Hans Nieper, MD, was a well known innovator of "Active Mineral Transport," the use of specific amino acid chelators to deliver minerals to specific sites in the body. He identified aspartate and orotate as active mineral transport chelators, providing unprecedented rates of mineral absorption and yielding unique therapeutic benefits.
Nieper found that 2AEP has an affinity for the outer layer of the cell membrane and acts to maintain cell membrane integrity and inhibit penetration by toxins and microorganisms. He called 2-AEP "Membrane Integrity Factor." 2-AEP is also a neurotransmitter which plays an important therapeutic role in treating Multiple Sclerosis, Asthma and Diabetes by providing a screen against antibodies, toxins, viruses and peroxide radicals.
